Catalina Foothills Homes
When Mr. John Murphy bought the Catalina Foothills property most people thought why?. You can’t mine it and certainly it’s no cattle ranch. But that didn't seem to bother Mr. Murphy, for he had other things in mind. Mr. Murphy started developing Campbell Ave. north with very nice custom homes on hilly property and rather large parcels of land. Tucson was about 20,000 plus population and had little interest in property that far out. Again, that didn't seem to bother Mr. Murphy. He built St. Phillips Church and the first shopping center in Tucson on Country Club Road and Broadway---the Broadway Village Market Plaza. The Murphy children were best friends of mine and Mr. and Mrs. Murphy were two of my favorite people. Mr. Murphy told me once that he developed the first strong adobe building block. I said wow! Well, thank you Mr. Murphy for the Catalina Foothills and what is today the pride of Tucson. This unique deluxe home development built on interesting topography with just fantastic mountain and city views, contains the most concentrated luxury home area of Tucson. The La Encantada Shopping Center with the famous AJs Grocery Store are right in keeping with the area and will be on your list to visit even if you don’t live in the Catalina Foothills. The north area is served by the Catalina Foothills School District.
